The WebPoint IT Solutions’ Story
The WebPoint IT Solutions’ Story
In 1993, based on Rawls & Winstead, Inc’s growing technology needs, Web-Point Communications was started as an ISP specializing in web hosting, email, and web development. It allowed Rawls & Winstead, Inc the ability to generate revenue that allowed it to hire better technical staff for its own needs.
Web-Point Communications served as the IT department for the following Rawls & Winstead companies:
•WINOCO Self Serve Marts (Sold in 1999)
•US Fleet Commercial Fueling (Sold in 2001)
•Mid State Ventures d.b.a. Friendly Check (49 locations in two states)
In 1995 after opening the first of eight US Fleet unattended sites, Web-Point Communications wrote an application out of their need to manage these unattended sites remotely. This application allowed employees to monitor systems like transactions, inventory levels, and live video feeds. This application was a first step in the customer service philosophy. This application alerted US Fleet’s customer service staff of customers that failed to get fuel based on issues like bad pin, invalid fuel type, or too many transactions per day so that they could call the customers company to proactively alert them of the reasons employees could not get fuel.
In January 1999, Web-Point Communications applied for and was granted a US Patent for the Infinity Site Manager Software.
In July 2000, Web-Point Communications formed a joint venture with GASBOY International, the world’s largest manufacturer of commercial pumps to be the sales and marketing side for Infinity Site Manger software.
In February 2003, GASBOY’s parent company Tokheim Corporation filed for bankruptcy and sold its assets. Web-Point Communications took ownership of the software and went on to sell over 700 systems in the US, Canada, and Mexico.
In 2005, we purchased Net Tech Computing after hiring owner Will Williams to be our Director of Operations and help manage the support team. Web-Point Communications found itself in the local IT support business.
In 2006, Qualis Technology was created to develop software to allow Qualis Management the ability to provide management of durable medical equipment, oxygen, and other medical supplies to managed care services, Home Health and Hospice agencies.
Also in 2006, Web-Point Communications changed the local support business model from a will call business to a managed service business by using management and monitoring tools acquired for internal use.
On March 30, 2007, Rawls & Winstead, Inc gave its 4 key employees 25% ownership in the company and Web-Point Communications LLC was created as a standalone company.
In September 2007, we revamped our managed service model and expanded our support offerings.
In November 2007, Web-Point Communications rebranded our service division into WebPoint IT Solutions
In May 2008, WebPoint IT Solutions became an EMC and VMware reseller.
In May 2009, we purchased Connecting Point, which was our largest competitor in Rocky Mount.
In July 2009, we helped form Health to Home, LLC. WebPoint is working on a custom application that will have a large impact in the healthcare industry.
In May 2010, WebPoint IT Solutions opened a second location in Wilson.
